ABOUT DR. MAUD

I began my medical training committed to osteopathic manual medicine. After attending Stanford University and obtaining my degree in Creative Writing, I became fascinated by the amazing work of Dr. Muriel Chapman, an octogenarian practicing osteopathic medicine in the Berkeley hills. Once I met Muriel and experienced her amazing touch, I knew my calling was to become an osteopath.

After graduation from medical school, I traveled the country to study with the legendary osteopaths of the age, the greatest students of Dr. Will Sutherland. I studied with Dr. Robert Fulford, Herb Miller, Ann Wales, and Howard and Rebecca Lippincott. The Lippincotts, as Sutherland’s lieutenants, had seen the birth of cranial osteopathy. But in 1980, Rebecca told me she feared the demise of her beloved profession. Only forty-five people remained in the Osteopathic Cranial Academy. I promised her I would make it my life’s mission to preserve and promote this sacred body of knowledge.

I have been practicing and teaching osteopathy for thirty years, keeping my promise to Rebecca Lippincott, and keeping faith with the great osteopaths who shared their knowledge with me.
